What's up Buttercup?

No tricks, just a treat...

Holy smokes! Were you waiting on pins and needles for an update to the talk-of the-town birthday party? Oh I bet you were.

Well, this year, we had our first hiccuup in our always perfect day.

It rained!

HOLY SHIT! I know. It never rains on Jocelyn's big day, right? But this year, who would be surprised! It rained ALL summer long, right? If you can even call that a summer.

So all eyes were on me as the skies opened and the rain poured down. We never thought it would happen - would mother nature dare to defy me? That whore.

Well, as luck would have it (if you believe in luck... you know I don't, I only believe in UHF) - the rain lasted a good 10 minutes if that. Just long enough for 20 or so kids to scream "Come on Uncle Hy" and then the rain pounded harder for a minute and literally, just... stopped. Voila. That's it! Back to the pool we go!

Everyone stopped to stare at me. My friends held their breath. They waited for the tears to start flowing. But did they? NO! I just kind of peeked out from the tent and said, "Okay... so this is what we do when it rains." No biggy!

And on with the celebration...and what a celebration it was.

Keep talking town! Keep talking!

Thanks Uncle Hy for another great year. I think next year, I won't worry so much. At least I didn't have weather like the week after Jocelyn's bday. It rained all day and if it hit 60 degrees I'd be surprised.

Again, summer? What summer?

Cheers, S.

The countdown is on...

Yes... it's that time again. Dave rushes to finish all summer projects, I stress over the rest.

6 years. Can you believe it? My baby is about to be 6. I have stressed over the weather for 6 years. And you know what? It never once has rained.

But before I get to that, what happened to my baby? When I first posted on this blog she was in diapers. Now she picks out her own (name brand) clothes. She has friends of her own. Boyfriends. She gets her own phone calls. She decides what she wants to eat. She swims without help. She wipes her own ass (thank god). She loves to sing. She loves to dance. She wants to take tennis lessons. She thinks soccer practice is a social hour. She loves My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shops, Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers. She wants her own Disney television show. She thinks she could be the next Hannah Montana. She likes to wear my pink hair extension. She thinks she is famous because her picture is on a game box. She absolutely loves her boyfriends Tyler and Dominic and I really think she wants to marry both of them. At this time in their lives, I think they'd both me cool with it as long as she doesn't kiss them. Her best friend's name is Jessie. They're not going to first grade together and Jocelyn said, "But I'm going to die without Jessie..." I could go on and on... The point is -- my baby is her own person. She's a young lady, not so much a little girl. But the one thing that stayed true throughout all of these 6 years (and will continue for at least the next 10) is that I have always thrown her a kick ass talk of the town birthday party! And there is no way in hell I'm letting mother nature ruin that this year! So Hurricane Bill.... BITE ME. Mother nature -- chillax -- and Uncle Hy -- you know what you gotta do. I have faith you'll come through and make this year THE BEST EVER.

Here's hoping for a rockin' good time.

Cheers,

S.

Well hello there.

Does anyone still read this? Do you wonder if I fell of the face of the earth? In reality, I'm still here. I still read this every now and then - if anything just to remind myself that I need to update this page!

So here we are - my favorite month of the year... August. Getting close to crunch time. A little over 2 weeks or just a bit less than 3 weeks depending on how you look at it --- till "The big day" -- That one day a year that I spend 364 other days planning. The 3-5 (for the lightweights) hours of a day that I need sunshine, warm weather and happy children. (Well it's either that or a whole lotta beer.)

This year's party theme is Hannah Montana - and it's shaping up to be a kick ass party. I really can't wait. We are (well I am) very excited to be unveiling our new 12 x 24 deck off our kitchen, which I've decided is more like a balcony if you look at it from the street. That's because our yard is sloped (thus the reason I wanted the deck, because the area is unusable) and at the front of the house is it's highest peak. It's been a painful summer for poor Dave -- as he's spent all of his free time working on the deck. This will also mark the second summer in a row that (so far) he has yet to make it into the pool.

Jocelyn is having a fantastic time at summer camp - and next week she starts drama camp. She'll be in her first play on 8-14. I can't wait!

That's about all I can come up with for now. Everything else is the same ol' shit.
Let's all hope summer is finally here to stay and that August 22 is indeed a fantastic, hot as hell, beautifully sunny day. Say it with me please. COME ON UNCLE HY!

Cheers,
S.

Is anyone out there?

Just checking.
If so - for being a good doobie (or for just being nosey or stalking me...)
you get to see a preview of my halloween costume.

Note -- if you work with me, have worked with me, will work with me, close this window NOW, (really NOW) pretend you never saw this and act normal.

I'm not gonna do my hair like this, was just messin' around being silly. Oh and hopefully I'll lose 20 lbs by Friday too. Yea right!

Cheers, S.

You gotta have faith...

Here's poem number two of many to come - begging and pleading for nice weather on 8/23.

Uhm hello Uncle Hy - this summer is frightful -
the weather I tell you, is far from delightful!
It's raining, it's pouring, and we're stuck in the house
The sunshine this summer is as quiet as a mouse!
So please, Uncle Hy - I know you work wonders
Please tell the weathermen they're all full of blunders
And let August 23 be the best weather day of the year
And as always with balloons we'll salute you and cheer!
Cuz 90 or so people would get stuck sopping wet
And you'd have to deal with my mommy, don't forget!
You haven't let me down, and I know you'll come through
Only one person can do it, and that would be YOU!

Cheers, S.
